In response to the announcement of Chinese property giant Evergrande's liquidation, Shane Oliver, chief economist at financial services company AMP, says that while it is unlikely to have a huge impact on the Chinese and global economies, it is still a sign of the ongoing property crisis within China. The winding-up order could also serve as a wake-up call to Beijing that "investment needs to halve and consumption needs to double" for such a large economy, says economist Richard Holden of the University of New South Wales Business School.
