A group of researchers at the University of Rosario, in the Colombian capital of Bogota, patent a formula that protects the brains of bees and other pollinators from exposure to insecticides. The plant-derived liquid, registered with the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom, "opens the door to a great deal of research... in order to have an impact on beekeepers, farmers and society in general," explains Andre Josafat Riveros, a professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Universidad del Rosario, who led the research.
