Description
As El Salvador prepares to head to the polls on February 4, the country's current president, Nayib Bukele, is enjoying approval ratings of around 90 percent according to numerous polls. Voting for Bukele would mean gaining "a few rights in exchange for giving up everything else," says Marcela Martino, deputy director of Center for Justice and International Law (Cejil) in an interview in San Jose. Martin adds that Bukele has spent his first term "dismantling" the state of El Salvador and fears that if anyone opposes him, it would result in "repression". IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
