The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) rebel group announce a six-month extension to a ceasefire in effect since August, with the ELN agreeing to suspend kidnappings for ransom. "Who said that peace was easy? But who can deny that every step taken is worthwhile and important," says the government's chief negotiator, Vera Grabe, after signing the agreement with her counterpart, Pablo Beltran.
