Description
Palestinian refugees in Lebanon deem the potential termination of UNRWA's operations as a 'death sentence', as nearly 250,000 refugees rely on the agency's vital services in the cash-strapped country. The UN Palestinian refugee agency is facing a cash crunch after several nations suspended their funding over accusations that 12 of its staff members were involved in the October 7 attacks in Israel by Hamas. "We do hope that trust and confidence can be returned to the donors to unfreeze the funding, because the humanitarian implications, the implications on stability in this region... would have serious repercussions", UNRWA's Lebanon director Dorothee Klaus tells AFP.
