Description
Foreign soldiers captured by Ukraine take part in a press conference in Kyiv, organised by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (KSHPPV) and the "I Want To Live" State Capture Project. Eight prisoners of war, from Cuba, Nepal, Sierra Leone and Somalia, describe how they were lured with promises of high wages, non-combat roles or simply tricked. "They promised to give 2000 dollars for one month" says one, while another explains he believed he would be serving "just in a supporting plan". According to the Geneva Convention, prisoners of war should be protected from “public curiosity”. AFP did not question the men separately and chose not to name them, although organisers did.
