Description
"I have the right to live as a little girl, like anywhere else in the world, in a safe place," says Rama, a displaced Gazan teenager living in a makeshift camp in Rafah. She has been taking part in activities organised for children by a group of volunteers, the Gaza Smile group. Alma Mahdi, one of the volunteers, tries to "bring joy to the children of Gaza". "We have been to several camps and found many in difficult psychological conditions due to the bombardment," she laments. Heavy fighting raged Sunday in the Israel-Hamas war as Israel plans to push its ground invasion into Rafah city on the Egyptian border, where around 1.5 million Palestinians have sought refuge, mostly in overcrowded shelters.
