Description
Venezuelans in Caracas react to the presidential candidates after the nomination period closed. While some, like Manuel Castillo, support President Nicolas Maduro, others say the opposition lacks a strong front. "None of the opposition presidential candidates has a government plan that can overcome the current one," says merchant Cesar Villanueva, although he believes that "the opposition should be given a little more democratic opportunity" for a "balanced" vote.
Forced to dump its most popular candidate, Maria Corina Machado, and then a proxy, Corina Yoris, Venezuela's opposition unity is on the verge of crumbling ahead of the July 28 presidential election, giving Maduro a prospect of victory, analysts say. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
