Description
Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell comments on the 10th anniversary of legal same-sex marriages in England and Wales, calling the decision "the repeal of the last major homophobic discrimination in Britain". Legislation to allow same-sex marriage in England and Wales was passed by the UK Parliament in July 2013 and took effect on 13 March 2014, described by Tatchell as "a hugely joyous day". Speaking in an interview with AFP, the Australian-born British activist says that while "great advances" have been made, "there are still battles to fight", including a ban on so-called conversion therapy, "promised" by the UK government in 2018.
