Description
Former Bolivian priest Pedro Lima, who claimed he was expelled from the Jesuit order in 2001 for reporting abuse, celebrates after a judge ordered house arrest for Spanish priests Marcos Recolons and Ramon Alaix, accused of covering up sexual abuse committed by the late priest Alfonso Pedrajas in the 1970s and 1980s. However, there are still "eight other perpetrators identified" in the "Pedrajas Case," says Bolivian Survivors Community representative Wilder Jaldin.
Alfonso Pedrajas died in Bolivia in 2009 of cancer, at the age of 62, without ever being tried. Pedrajas arrived in Bolivia in 1970 to teach in several educational centers. The case against him was declared extinct by the courts and was extended to the living priests he mentioned in his memoirs. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
