Description
Nearly 30 years since the late Nelson Mandela became president of South Africa, one of his long-term admirers, Nigerian playwright and Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, shares fond memories of his "big uncle" Mandela and expresses faith in South Africa's leaders of today, as the country prepares to go to the polls on May 29. "He's left some very, highly competent lieutenants behind and collaborators and colleagues," 89-year-old Soyinka says of Mandela, during a brief visit to Johannesburg for a talk at a local arts centre. "I believe that the baton, the baton is not in, in dangerous hands or anything of the sort." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
