As the war in Sudan approaches it's first anniversary Sudanese researcher and editor Raga Makawi says the situation "remains quite dire, with very little developments or breakthroughs in terms of negotiation," during an interview with AFPTV in Cairo. The war opposes the army led by General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by his former deputy, General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo. Over the past year, the conflict has killed thousands of people, displaced more than 8.5 million and largely destroyed the country's infrastructure, pushing it to the brink of famine.
