Description
Armenians, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, gather at the capital's genocide memorial building to mark the World War I-era mass killings of ethnic Armenians by Ottoman forces. The exodus of more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians from the Nagorno-Karabakh region last autumn following a lightning Azerbaijani offensive hung over this year's events. "It hurts me very much that nowadays... I hear similar stories again, the same events and murders are repeated on our borders," says Narine Sahakyan, 62, at a ceremony at the memorial's eternal flame. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
