Description
As he feeds his sheep costly fodder, Talib Edais looks regretfully at the Jordan Valley mountains across the road from his home, where his herd grazed for free until last month. "It is forbidden to be on the street or on the mountain (...) because the settlers says that this is the land of Israel, and that it belongs to the Jews and not to the Arabs explains the herder. In March 2024, 8,000 dunams of land (800 hectares) adjacent to Edais's home were declared state land by Israeli authorities. 2024 already holds the record for land grabs of this kind and others, Israeli nonprofit Peace Now found said, enabled by the focus on the war in Gaza.
