At the beginning of March, Bordeaux University Hospital (CHU)
put into operation one of France's first paramedical ambulances. 'The new system consists of sending an ambulance with a nurse and a paramedic, without a doctor,' says Catherine Pradeau, deputy head of Bordeaux Samu (emergency medical services), explaining that a 'scarcity' of doctors meant finding new solutions for non-life-threatening call-outs.
