Description
The village of Satabhaya, in India's Odisha state, now lies largely abandoned, as its buildings are gradually claimed by the tide. Rising seas, driven by both climate change and upriver dams, have affected several coastal settlements in the state.
Hundreds of Satabhay's displaced former residents have been officially recognised as climate migrants. Last year the Odisha government announced funds for a resettlement colony 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) inland, but life for the new arrivals is tough. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
