Description
Newly installed Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris says a reported offer by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to join the UK in sending asylum-seekers to Rwanda is "more satire than news". During his first official visit to Belfast time since taking office, Harris tells media that "Ireland has its own policy in relation to immigration", speaking alongside Northern Irish political leaders at Stormont Castle. According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the UK government is open to Dublin joining its controversial deportation scheme after parliament passed a law declaring Rwanda is a safe country.
