Amid sacks of potatoes and lettuce, Doralicia Moreno, a vendor in Panama's largest market, complains that "the influx of customers is very low" and hopes that the new president will bring prosperity back to the market. The Central American country is heading to the polls on May 5 after a tumultuous race for the presidency.
Of the eight candidates in the race, right-wing lawyer Jose Raul Mulino leads the polls with more than 30% of the vote, which he inherited from former President Ricardo Martinelli, whom he replaced after he was disqualified following an 11-year prison sentence for money laundering.
