Rescue teams navigate the flooded streets of the Sao Joao and Sarandi neighbourhood in Porto Alegre after an unprecedented deluge hit the city. The rain has abated, but flooding continues its assault on southern Brazil, with hundreds of municipalities in ruins and food and drinking water fast running out. At least 83 people have died, 111 are missing and more than 129,000 were ejected from their homes by floods and mudslides in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. IMAGES
