In the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, after being ushered in by their teacher, dozens of young Ukrainian schoolchildren dutifully file into their new classroom – several metres underground. For many, this newly built underground school represents their first face-to-face interaction with their classmates and teachers in a long time, after the ever-present danger of Russian shelling forced most education online.
