"This is mere destruction, not a Nakba. During the [1948] Nakba, our homes and lands were not destroyed, everything remained in place when we were expelled," says Ryad al-Sheikh Ali a Palestinian who was displaced to Gaza in 1948 and who has been displaced four times since war erupted on October 7. Tens of thousands of civilians have fled heavy fighting in Gaza as Palestinians marked 76 years since their mass displacement during Israel's wartime creation which they call the Nakba or "catastrophe".
