Description
Residents in Noumea set up roadblocks with the aim of keeping watch over their neighbourhood in a peaceful manner amid protests linked to a constitutional bill aimed at enlarging the electorate for upcoming elections of the overseas French territory of New Caledonia.
France ordered troops to guard ports and the international airport in its Pacific territory as a state of emergency started on May 16 after two nights of riots left four dead and hundreds wounded. SLIDESHOW
