Director Emanuel Parvu took some of the inspiration for his in-competition 'Three Kilometres from the End of the World' (Romanian: Treil Kilometri Pana La Capatul Lumii, Eds.) from Jonathan Glazer's 'The Zone of Interest', which won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2023. Seen "from the perspective of the aggressor", the film tells the story of 17-year-old homosexual Adi, whose world is turned upside down after he is violently assaulted while on holiday in his native village in rural Romania.
