Description
Active and retired police officers protest outside a police station in Misiones, Argentina for the second straight day. The demonstrators, who were joined by school teachers and professors, are angry about their salaries and want the government to do more. Aerial footage showed police vehicles on the street with many sounding their sirens in support. Soup kitchens have also been set up to support the action.
"We ask the government of the province of Misiones to open its heart," says retired police officer Ramon Amarilla. "To look for an immediate solution to all these problems, which are purely and exclusively salary-related."
The national government and the provincial government have created a "Crisis Committee" and considering sending federal forces to disband the protest. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
