In Bogota's mountainous terrain, a seemingly ordinary hill hides the Dona Juana landfill, an immense mound of waste that has been accumulating for over three decades. The nearby residents watch as it continues to grow. For the Rivera family, life near the landfill is fraught with challenges. Andrea, born the same year as the landfill became operational, has a son who suffers from asthma, likely worsened by the gases emitted from the landfill. When Andrea's father Raul Rivera arrived in this rural area of the Mochuelo district in 1976, he recalls, he had a panoramic view of the city from his farm.
