SHORT PROFILE of award-winning Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof who escaped from his home country days before the start of the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival. An outspoken critic of Iran's rulers, Rasoulof faced a new eight-year prison sentence for "collusion against national security". He has already served two prison terms over his uncompromising political films and had his passport revoked in 2017.. Rasoulof was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
