Despite tentative signs of a fragile return to normality in the French Pacific territory of New Caledonia after two weeks of deadly unrest, some public services on the archipelago remain severely disrupted, including household rubbish collections. "Since the events, so far there's still no bin lorry driving by the house," says a resident of the Paita municipality.
