Description
Thousands of Georgians rally outside the parliament building after ruling party MPs adopted the controversial "foreign influence" law. Lana Napetvaridze, one of the protestors, says she hopes "our efforts will help not compromise our dignity," adding "we all want Europe" and "and our future generation to live in an independent and happy Georgia."
Lawmakers voted 84 to 4 to pass the bill, after overriding pro-EU President Salome Zurabishvili's veto. Brussels had warned the law was "incompatible" with the ex-Soviet republic's longstanding bid for EU membership, which is enshrined in the country's constitution and supported -- according to opinion polls -- by more than 80 percent of the population.
