Description
The sound of trumpets, cornets and tubas ring through the streets of Nsambya, in the Ugandan capital Kampala, as a community brass band holds its regular practice. The musicians? Marginalised children who are learning life skills through music, with the charity Brass for Africa. “I really feel like we are not marriage material. We are productive people that can really stand for ourselves and say this is what I want,” says one musician, who joined the band as a teenager. The group currently works with over 1,500 disadvantaged youth across Uganda, Rwanda and Liberia. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
