Dozens of police officers patrol or stand on duty in and around Hong Kong's Victoria Park amidst tight security ahead of the 35th anniversary of Beijing's 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. Hong Kong used to be the only place under China's rule where public commemoration of the crackdown was allowed, but the city's tradition of a large candlelit vigil has been banned since 2020 under a new security law.
