Description
Ukraine’s largest monument to communist leader Vladimir Lenin is being put up for sale by deputies of Zaporizhzhia’s City Council. The bronze sculpture was dismantled near Dniprovska in 2016, as part of a campaign to remove Soviet-era monuments. 10-15 million hryvnias (220 - 340,000 EUR), proceeds from the sale, will be donated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The dismantling of the monument took place on March 17, 2016 and lasted almost 30 hours. It stands at more than 19 metres tall and weighs 19 tons. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
