Description
A smart wheelchair system built by a team of young Tunisian women engineers has reached the finals for a prestigious European inventors' prize, setting a hopeful precedent in a country embroiled in multiple crises. Called 'Moovobrain', the new technology they've developed allows wheelchair users to move through a choice of touchpad, voice command, facial gestures or most impressively their own brain waves. "There are people with reduced mobility who, at home, have to ask for help to move around, to make small movements. (...) So, psychologically, it's very difficult to be dependent on someone," explains co-founder Khaoula Ben Ahmed. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
