Thousands take to the streets in protest in Nantes after the far-right crushed President Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance in Sunday's EU ballot.
Macron's subsequent announcement of elections for a new National Assembly on June 30, with a second round on July 7, has sparked widespread alarm, even from within the ranks of his party. "It's not a very good idea what Macron has done. What's more, I think we're going to be in a kind of rush that's quite detrimental to real political reflection," says one protester.
