Description
Two months before her Olympic Games debut, Argentine swimmer Macarena Ceballos is unable to train at the CENARD state sports center in Buenos Aires because the water in the pool is cold: "The pump broke," she says. This year, both ENARD, the agency supporting elite athletes, and the Undersecretariat of Sports have the same budget as in 2023, despite an inflation rate nearing 300% year-on-year. This is part of President Javier Milei's severe fiscal adjustment plan. "We had to work with what we had," says ENARD director Diogenes de Urquiza. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
