A short boat ride from the nightclubs of Myknonos lies Delos, one the most important sites of the ancient Greek and Roman world. Within decades the ruins could vanish beneath the rising waves of the surrounding Aegean, scientists have warned. "Plate tectonics are causing the island to sink" explains Veronique Chankowski, director of the French School at Athens, which has been studying the site for "150 years".
