Pope Francis deplores "the clashes and massacres" of civilians in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo and calls on "national authorities and international communities to do everything possible to put an end to the violence. "Nearly 150 people have died since the beginning of June in eastern DRC in killings attributed to the ADF group, affiliated with the jihadist organisation Islamic State, including 42 during a massacre committed overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, according to data from local authorities and civil society.
