Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accuses the US of "withholding essential weapons and ammunitions from Israel" during a state memorial ceremony commemorating the victims of the 1948 Altalena affair, at Nachalat Yitzhak cemetery in Tel Aviv. The Altalena affair was a violent confrontation between the Israeli right-wing Irgun faction and the Israeli army in 1948 during which the Altalena, a ship which was delivering arms for the Irgun faction, was blown up when it became clear that the arms might not be handed over to the government of then premier David Ben Gurion.
