When it comes to recycling, the Central American country of Guatemala is one of the region's leaders. About 40 million bottles are recycled every hour at the Grupo Vidriero Centroamericano (VICAL) plant in the capital, according to brand manager Eduardo Ordonez, in a country that accounts for 45 percent of the 129,428 tons of post-consumer glass recovered and recycled in Central America.
