Months into the closure of Tunisia's main border crossing with Libya, a haven for smugglers, shops are shuttered and unemployment has soared in the already-marginalised desert region, merchants say. "This crossing is crucial for us because we do all our trade with Libya. We have no other trade options" says one Tunisian shopkeeper in Ben Guerdane, some 32 kilometres west of the border.
