Preparations are underway in Kingston, as Hurricane Beryl which has weakened slightly to a category 4 storm, churns towards Jamaica, after killing at least five people and causing widespread destruction across the southeastern Caribbean. Workers are cleaning a gully to prevent it from overflowing, telephone companies are protecting their wires, and fisherfolk are being advised to evacuate Jamaica’s cays and banks immediately and return to mainland.
