Britain's main opposition Labour party is set to sweep to a "landslide" election win, analysts say, after exit polls predicted the right-wing Conservatives scored a record low number of seats in an end to 14 years of Tory rule.
"This is a landslide for Labour. This is devastating for the Conservatives, but it is not an extinction event," says Jenevieve Treadwell, policy fellow at LSE after the survey for UK broadcasters suggested centre-left Labour would win 410 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons, with the Conservatives managing only 131.
