Description
The ancient mystical dance called Kuda Kepang has been practiced by Javan migrants in Malaysia since the 1960s but is partially banned and disparaged in the Muslim-majority nation.
The dance has been banned in the southeast Malaysian state of Johor since 2009 but a dozen remaining dance troupes are waging an uphill battle to keep Kuda Kepang -- which means 'woven horse' -- alive as part of their cultural heritage. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
