Description
In Tunisia's renowned seaside town of Hammamet, bulldozers are busy at work spreading fine sand on the beach as part of a beach nourishment operation led by the Coastal Protection and Development Agency (APAL), in an effort to combat erosion caused by rising sea levels. But not everyone believes this to be an adequate solution in the long term: "We believe that there are other complementary solutions, such as seawalls. Indeed, this sand cannot hold for long, it may only last a few days," says Chihab Ben Faraj, secretary General of the Association for Environmental Education in Hammamet. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
