Description
"I did not want to be under the Turkish occupation. So I left and I went and stayed in a hotel in Troodos mountains," recalls 92-year-old Andreas Theodorou, a Greek Cypriot who fled his village in northern Cyprus shortly after the Turkish invasion was announced on July 20, 1974. Nearly 50 years later, the eastern Mediterranean island-nation remains divided and a "just solution" to its political woes is a "far-fetched possibility," says Chris Kika, a Greek Cypriot owner of an art gallery in the capital Nicosia.
