In the Kambui forest in eastern Sierra Leone, rangers fight against deforestation and illegal gold mining on a daily basis. There are only 62 of them patrolling some 14,000 hectares (35,000 acres), trying to stop the illegal activities which are harming the environment and the surrounding communities. "The devastation is getting worse every day," says Sheku Jusu, the regional conservation officer for the National Protected Areas Authority (NPAA).
