Description
Two patrol boats are joining the fleet of the French national police's maritime brigade to reinforce the security arrangements for the sailing events at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Marseille. ‘They were under-equipped,’ says Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The two boats, both 9.50 metre RIBs, are equipped with 300 horsepower engines. This means they can reach a top speed of 50 knots, enabling the police to ‘deploy very quickly and (to) be able to intervene in all types of dangerous behaviour, from petty crime to serious crime’, according to Marc Foyer, head of the brigade.
