Description
"Me and many of my coordinators are fearful for our lives," says Nahid Islam, a Bangladeshi student protest leader, speaking from a hospital room. The 26-year-old sociology graduate leads Students Against Discrimination, the main group organising demonstrations against employment quotas in government that have recently spiralled into deadly violence, with police and hospitals reporting at least 163 deaths across the country. Islam says he was beaten by law enforcement officers after being taken from a friend's house. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
