Ecuador military and police members carry out an operation to recover houses allegedly appropriated under extortion by drug traffickers in Duran, 10 km east of Guayaquil. Drug gangs are trying to take control of a strategic sector for the exit of drugs, by extorting the inhabitants to the point of forcing them to abandon their homes, which they then use for cocaine storage and as a logistical center to coordinate the departure of shipments out to the Pacific Ocean.
