Former Ukrainian convicts of the special “Shkval” battalion, which forms part of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade, receive military training before heading to the frontline. Former convict Artem sees this as an opportunity for atonement: "I want to liberate it (my country), to make something useful, to change my whole life - to start it with a clean slate."
