Description
The disputed reelection of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro threatens to further erode press freedom, says media rights watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
"For decades, journalism in Venezuela has been under pressure, under attack, under direct censorship by the Maduro regime, by Chavismo, but the situation continues to worsen," RSF's Latin America director Artur Romeu says during an interview with AFP.
Romeu also expresses concerns over the human rights situation in Nicaragua, which he said has the "worst situation in terms of freedom of the press" and like in a "horror movie". IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
